In 2007 the largest Jewish community center built in Europe since World War II was dedicated. Professor Hubert Burda donated the concert hall named in his honor.
It quickly established itself in Munich's cultural life. The opening ceremony for the Munich Opera Festival of 2007 was held here.
The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra selected it for their chamber concerts from the season 2007/2008 on.
The founding of the Orchestra Jakobsplatz is closely tied to the Hubert Burda Auditorium. All the orchestra's Munich concerts take place here.
At its first concert in the auditorium in June 2007 the Orchestra Jakobsplatz performed Darius Milhaud's great Jewish oratorio "Service Sacré."
